Our Hambledon Zéro Dosage Rosé is produced exclusively from estate-grown Meunier grapes in the historic village of Hambledon in Hampshire.
Hambledon’s cool climate combined with ancient chalky soils creates an ideal terroir to show this grape’s true potential. This is a gastronomic Fizz, free from categorization, born from our winemaker’s artistry.
This is a fine example of the depth and complexity that Meunier can produce whilst showcasing an energy and freshness that can be independently served or paired with food throughout a meal.
A beautiful, vivid wild-strawberry pink with a hue of red onion skin on the rim. On the nose, magnolia blossom is followed stridently by perfumed wild-strawberry compote with hints of buttered white sourdough toast. The palate is rich and mouth filling with flavours of strawberry balanced by zingy tart cranberry and pithy Amalfi lemon notes. The texture is creamy with a clean, crisp, yeasty finish.
About Hambledon Vineyard
Established in 1952 by Major-General Sir Guy Salisbury-Jones, Hambledon Vineyard boasts a rich heritage as England’s oldest commercial vineyard. Nestled in the picturesque Hampshire countryside, known as the ‘Cradle of Cricket,’ it stands as a pioneer of English winemaking innovation.
The vineyard’s success is deeply rooted in its geology. The vines flourish on chalky soils formed over 65 million years ago in the Paris Basin seabed, a terroir strikingly similar to the Champagne region. This unique foundation provides the perfect conditions for producing exceptional sparkling wines.
At Hambledon, we believe that crafting fine sparkling wines requires two essential elements: the finest raw materials and the expertise of world-class winemakers. Our commitment to excellence begins with meticulous care for the vineyard and extends to every stage of the winemaking process, ensuring each bottle reflects the character and quality of our remarkable heritage. "Made at contract winery Itasca by Ben Smith, who was responsible for making my highest scoring English wine of all time (2018 Oxney Chardonnay), I have no problem declaring that this is the UK’s finest Pinot Blanc to date.
The fruit comes from the Missing Gate Vineyard in Essex, where it was hand-picked and whole bunch pressed into third fill Burgundy barrels. I was lucky enough to taste a bottle late last year, and it is as lively and energetic as any white wine you will taste.
A low sulphur regime and minimal fining have left the beautiful fruit to romance your senses. This is a truly brilliant wine with sensational depth, complexity and length. It is not slippery and smooth like an Alsatian PB, but grainy, combative and textural like an epic Chablis. It is nothing short of stunning, and it is certainly the epitome of brave winemaking."
