Our Hambledon Zéro Dosage Rosé is produced exclusively from estate-grown Meunier grapes in the historic village of Hambledon in Hampshire.
Hambledon’s cool climate combined with ancient chalky soils creates an ideal terroir to show this grape’s true potential. This is a gastronomic Fizz, free from categorization, born from our winemaker’s artistry.
This is a fine example of the depth and complexity that Meunier can produce whilst showcasing an energy and freshness that can be independently served or paired with food throughout a meal.
A beautiful, vivid wild-strawberry pink with a hue of red onion skin on the rim. On the nose, magnolia blossom is followed stridently by perfumed wild-strawberry compote with hints of buttered white sourdough toast. The palate is rich and mouth filling with flavours of strawberry balanced by zingy tart cranberry and pithy Amalfi lemon notes. The texture is creamy with a clean, crisp, yeasty finish.
About Hambledon Vineyard
Established in 1952 by Major-General Sir Guy Salisbury-Jones, Hambledon Vineyard boasts a rich heritage as England’s oldest commercial vineyard. Nestled in the picturesque Hampshire countryside, known as the ‘Cradle of Cricket,’ it stands as a pioneer of English winemaking innovation.
The vineyard’s success is deeply rooted in its geology. The vines flourish on chalky soils formed over 65 million years ago in the Paris Basin seabed, a terroir strikingly similar to the Champagne region. This unique foundation provides the perfect conditions for producing exceptional sparkling wines.
At Hambledon, we believe that crafting fine sparkling wines requires two essential elements: the finest raw materials and the expertise of world-class winemakers. Our commitment to excellence begins with meticulous care for the vineyard and extends to every stage of the winemaking process, ensuring each bottle reflects the character and quality of our remarkable heritage. This is the eighth release of our best and most acclaimed sparkling rosé wine. Made with 100% Pinot Noir grapes which were lovingly hand picked from our Monkshatch plot at the end of the first week of October 2019.
Two thirds of the grapes were crushed and destemmed and soaked for two hours prior to pressing to obtain the lovely light ‘salmon pink’ colour before fermentation in stainless steel tanks.
One third of the grapes were whole bunch pressed with the base wine (using only the Cuvée) fermented and aged in used oak barrels. Both batches went through malolactic fermentation.
