About Sealwood Cottage
Sealwood Cottage was originally built in the 1700’s as a Hunting Lodge or Folly. It is a Grade II listed and has a remarkable timber framed building with brick infill and an unusual cavity wall for this type of architecture. It has many interesting features including a secret bed. Having been unoccupied and neglected for many decades it has now been lovingly and carefully restored.
Along with the cottage there is a now a stunning vineyard which owner John took on as a project several years ago when they planted 4,000 vines all in a day! The vineyard is also in the grounds of the beautiful cottage.

It's called Anniversary because it marks 40 years since vines were first planted at Hazel End. Like our gold medal winner of 2009, it is a blend of Huxelrebe and Reichensteiner harvested in a fine year for UK vineyards. Gardner Street has the classic floral, elderflower note we have come to know of contemporary Bacchus, married with a touch of ripe stone fruit from the barrel fermented Chardonnay.
Sourced from vineyard partners in Essex and Kent we harvested the vineyard parcels separately and fermented as small lots to allow the expression of their respective sites to shine through. 30% of the blend was fermented in neutral 300L French oak barrels and
allowed to go through malolactic fermentation, while the remaining parcels were fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel and did not go through malolactic fermentation.
