We have teamed up with Silver Circle Distillery again this year to create Y Gwyllgi, a Pinot Noir Gin that uses the beautiful leftover skin, pulp and seeds from the winemaking process combined with the wild flavours of foraged Wye Valley botanicals.

Named after a mythical beast the Gwyllgi, gwyll “twilight” + ci “dog”, who is said to appear as a frightful apparition of a Black Wolf with baleful breath and blazing red eyes.

About The Dell Vineyard

The Dell Vineyard is the passion project of husband-and-wife team Lucy and Dan. Their journey began in 2005 when they moved from Monmouthshire to Bristol for university. After marrying in 2013, they spent six months travelling the Southern Hemisphere, where their love for wine was born, planting the saeed of a dream to one day own a vineyard.

In 2021, inspired by a desire for change after Lucy’s frontline experience as an ICU nurse during the pandemic, they made that dream a reality. Within weeks, they began leasing the Pen-Y-Clawdd vineyard and prepared to plant their own vines on The Dell, land that has been in Dan’s family since the late 1800s.

Today, they cultivate nearly 10,000 vines across six acres, including Pinot Noir, Solaris, Souvignier Gris, Cabernet Noir, Pinot Meunier, Seyval Blanc, and Phoenix. The Dell’s name honours both the family’s heritage and the landscape—a peaceful, grassy hollow bordered by trees, with the seasonal Nant y Wilcae stream weaving through.

Their logo features Raglan Castle, a medieval fortress tied to the region’s historical wine trade. Its 15th-century owner, William Herbert, Earl of Pembroke, made his fortune importing Bordeaux wines, with cellars once filled with reds, whites, and claret—then crafted in a rosé style.

Rooted in history and fuelled by family passion, The Dell Vineyard is a tribute to the land, its legacy, and the joy of winemaking.
