About The Grange Winery
Nestled across thirty acres of idyllic Hampshire downland, The Grange is home to fifty-two thousand vines and four siblings united by a shared vision: to craft exceptional English sparkling wine. Over two centuries since their forebear Alexander purchased the Grange Estate, Zam, Rose, Lucy, and Mark came together in 2011 to create something lasting and meaningful on their family farm. Their vineyard, Burges Field, with its flinty, south-facing slopes, yields grapes that strike the perfect balance of acidity and sugar, expressing the unique terroir of this soft, chalky landscape.
The Grange team brings together global expertise and local passion. Vineyard Manager Samuel Philippot, originally from Montpellier, combines his experience in organic cultivation with meticulous attention to detail, while Head Winemaker Harry Pickering applies a wealth of international winemaking knowledge, honed in New Zealand and beyond, to craft wines of elegance and finesse. Assistant Winemaker Juan Montenegro and Assistant Vineyard Manager Will Francis contribute their own diverse experiences, ensuring every bottle reflects years of care and dedication.
Their father, John Ashburton, a former banker and avid wine-lover, was an enthusiastic supporter until his passing, with the Classic being his favorite—a legacy the family honours with every vintage.
The Grange’s sparkling wines embody the family’s entrepreneurial spirit and deep connection to the land, offering a testament to tradition, craftsmanship, and a shared desire to create something truly remarkable.
