About Winding Wood Vineyard
In 2012, a casual remark sparked an adventure: planting a vineyard on our farm. We evicted the sheep and began our journey. Twelve years later, we've released five vintages of Winding Wood sparkling wine, earning medals, including a gold from WineGB.
Our vineyard is a labour of love, with 250 days a year spent tending to our 2,500 vines. We've met fellow passionate wine growers, shared knowledge, and joined the exclusive club of vineyard owners who believe England can produce world-class sparkling wine.
We've deliberately kept our operation small, focusing on low yield and high quality. Every vine is scrutinised, and we employ exacting canopy management to ensure healthy grapes. Our winemakers remind us that good wine can't be made from poor grapes.
We've experimented with innovative technologies, including installing heated wires to protect our vines from spring frosts. This revolutionary system has proven effective, and we believe we're the first in England to implement it throughout our entire vineyard.
