Domaine d`Altugnac, Origines Rosé Turitelles 2024 (6 Bottles) Languedoc-Roussillon, France

£94.00
by Bancroft Wines

UK MAINLAND SHIPPING INCLUDED

Childhood friends Christian Collovray and Jean-Luc Terrier each grew up in a family of winemakers and shared a bond from a young age. Following the success of Domaine des Deux Roches, in 1997 Christian and Jean-Luc branched out from Mâcon and purchased land in the southwest of the Languedoc in Limoux. This site benefits from an elevation of up to 500 meters, thereby moderating the Mediterranean climate. The shallow, limestone-based soils are ideal for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Hailing from the high-altitude vineyards of the Vallée de l’Aude in the Languedoc, this wine takes its name—Turitelles—from the distinctive cone-shaped marine fossils scattered throughout the soils, lending a vibrant, mineral-driven edge. On the palate, it bursts with crunchy red berries and juicy peach, finishing with an ultra-light, refreshing crispness.

12.5% ABV, Vegan Friendly.

Domaine Pinchinat has quietly been producing organic wines since 1990, long before it was a trendy word in the region. The property has belonged to the same family for over two centuries and is now expertly managed by Alain de Welle. Situated at the foot of the famous Montagne Sainte-Victoire, 25km east of Aix en Provence, the winery has 75 acres of vineyards at 280m above sea level. The soils here are composed of clay and limestone making it a haven for vine growing.

Pale pink in colour and light in style, it is a classic Provence rosé to the core. Delicate hints of melon, peach and apricot on the nose are also present on the palate. The finish is persistent and fresh.

Telmo Rodriguez is one of the most well-known personalities in Spanish winemaking. Though his family home is in Rioja Alavesa, Telmo’s influence can be felt in many regions of Spain. For more than 30 years, Telmo and his business partner, Pablo Eguzkiza, have been rediscovering historic vineyards and investing in infrastructure. Telmo and Pablo were one of the first modern-day winemakers to arrive in Valdeorras and helped bring attention to the incredible terraced vineyards of Ladeiras do Xil.
