Sugrue Rosé Ex Machina 2018 (6 Bottles) Haywards Heath, West Sussex, England

£297.00
by Wines by Cellars

UK MAINLAND SHIPPING INCLUDED

Rosé Ex Machina isn't a wine we taste, rather, it's a wine we drink, consume, inhale – such is its opulence and indulgence. It looks, smells, tastes gorgeous. Nectar from the heavens; a wine from the sky.

Like Deus Ex Machina – an act of divine intervention in Greek tragedy that resolves the seemingly impossible on stage – Rosé Ex Machina was the result of our own much needed bolt from the blue in 2016: an initially difficult vintage saved by a glut of grapes from Jenkyn Place vineyard that were, quite literally, perfect.

Fortune struck again in 2018 – a year that wasn't just full of sunshine, but was relentlessly warm and bright from start to finish, without a puff of wind, and virtually no rain. That remarkable summer is evident at its core.

With four and a half years on lees, and another twelve months in bottle, the 2018 Rosé Ex Machina is serene and expansive. Blood orange one minute and wild raspberries the next; juicy and creamy, but with razor-sharp focus – it's tasting better than ever.

Coolhurst Ktima Gerovassiliou Malagousia (6 Bottles) Horsham, West Sussex, England via Greece

NECTAR FROM A DIFFERENT HECTARE

This very fine bottle of white wine comes from the exceptional Ktima Gerovassiliou, who are veritable magicians. It’s all in here; white pear, mango and lemon zest on the nose and a mouthful of refreshing fruit with a hint of mountain herbs underpinned by a delicious flinty, mineral backbone. Obviously this is a natural partner to Greek and Mediterranean food but it has the kahunas to stand up to Thai spice too. If you like Sauvignon Blanc or Bacchus you’re going to love this.
