Domaine Chignard farms 8 hectares of old vines in Fleurie, situated at the top of the hill sloping down to Moulin-àVent on pure granitic soils. The wines are elegant but serious and concentrated expressions of the terroir, none more so than the ‘Les Moriers’ lieu-dit. Cédric is following in his father’s footsteps and continuing the traditional Beaujolais way of farming and winemaking.
Bright, focused, and energetic, the fruit-filled Fleurie "Les Moriers" reflects its outstanding terroir with good concentration and a superb depth not usually found in the wines of Fleurie. It's very lush and vivid, tasting generous and fluid with great vibrancy The vines average 80 years old and 'Les Moriers' has been known as one of the legendary vineyards of the Beaujolais for a few hundred years and this is it's best example.

This 2023 vintage shows all the benefits of the long hot summer in the UK last year and is slightly more rounded and nuanced than our previous vintages, with strong aromas of pear and gooseberry on the nose and palate and with a deliciously smooth finish. The wine presents a light gold colour, a delicate bouquet of yellow plums naectarine, pear drops, gooseberry, honeysuckle and ripe figs and hints of vanilla and spice. Rich but balanced, soft and very approachable. A lovely creamy palate is developing with salinity and a long luscious finish.
2023 had perfect conditions for flowering and fruit set and a warm and dry harvest period the quality of the fruit was excellent and we harvested in early October.
