Gusbourne Late Disgorged Brut Reserve 2013 (6 Bottles) Appledore, Kent, England

£630.00
by Wines by Cellars

UK MAINLAND SHIPPING INCLUDED

This Library Release wine has been gently maturing in our cellars. A Pinot Noir-dominated blend from a cool vintage, this wine is elegant and nuanced with layers of complex flavours. The overall impression is bright and vibrant. Notes of red currant, red fruits and orange zest sitting alongside cloves, cherry bark and a delicious succulent apricot note. The finish is complex and long.

Every year, we release a small number of late-disgorged wines. These are particularly luxurious and fine thanks to a special winemaking technique.

If you’re already familiar with Dom Perignon’s Plénitude or Bollinger’s RD, then you know the magical combination of freshness allied with delicious flavours of brioche, cream, butter and toast that characterise late-disgorged wines.

But how does this kind of ageing alchemy happen? The answer lies in the lees.

It was Johann Rupert who constructed a state-of-theart winemaking facility, catapulting the farm into a prestigious wine estate. The focus is on terroir specific wines and therefore it would seem obvious that the brand is made up of an impressive portfolio of farms representing the best in grape producing locations. Each site offers optimum varietal specific growing conditions, allowing Anthonij Rupert Wyne to adhere to the requirements of their different brands.

The nose is warm and inviting, with aromas of fruitcake, blackberries, subtle spice, oak, and a hint of dark chocolate. The same approachable charm carries through to the palate, offering a delightful blend of red and black fruits like plum, mulberry, and soft Agen prune, complemented by notes of Christmas cake and gentle spice.
