About Ambriel Vineyard Sussex
Situated on the sunlit slopes of the Sussex countryside, Ambriel Vineyard is a distinguished name in English sparkling wine. Established in 2008 by Charles and Wendy Outhwaite, this family-run vineyard spans 9 hectares of prime south-facing land, where vines thrive on the region’s renowned greensand soils, providing the perfect conditions for producing premium sparkling wines.
Ambriel Vineyard specializes exclusively in traditional method sparkling wines crafted from classic grape varieties—Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. As its name suggests this wine is made of selected base wines from multiple vintages to produce an approachable and immediately enjoyable style. A concentrated and polished English Pinot Noir from our Sussex vineyards. The 2023 vintage is a classic: juicy, crunchy, vibrant and all held in an elegant structure.
Juicy, crunchy, vibrant Pinot Noir all held in an elegant, very ‘classic’ structure. Concentrated brambles (blackberry) and black cherry, damson fruit overlaid with quintessential Pinot perfumed aromatics and subtle dry spice. Subtle fennel and violet give further aromatic complexity and intrigue.
Medium-light, chalky tannins give the wine great texture, acidity is refreshing but well-integrated and harmonious. Long, complete finish with all components pulling-together to the end.
The Burgundy clones used lend this wine perfumed aromatics and subtle dry spice. At home alongside seasonal game or earthy, slow-cooked vegetarian dishes. Suitable to drink now but has potential to age for a further five years.
