Dunesforde commissioned this Rosé in honour of Queen Cartimandua, Queen of the North (AD43-69). As leader of the largest and most northerly tribe in England, this powerful lady chose to form an alliance with the Roman invaders rather than be wiped out in futile battle. Made by traditional method using a blend of English Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, this vintage demonstrates lively fruits, subtle aromas and a crisp finish. Bold yet elegant, designed for a queen.
About Dunesforde Vineyard
Dunesforde Vineyard’s story began over a decade ago, inspired by the vineyards of Tuscany. Our journey took us from Italy to Yorkshire, where we discovered a site with ideal conditions for growing cool-climate wines. With expert advice, we carefully selected vine varietals and rootstocks to match our soil and climate. Our vineyard lies near the historic Roman town of Aldborough, where Romans once planted vines. We like to think that our vineyard is a continuation of this ancient tradition. Our wines are made from Bacchus, Solaris, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, and other varietals, carefully crafted to showcase the unique characteristics of our cool-climate terroir.
We’re proud to offer a range of still and sparkling wines, including our award-winning Queen of the North, named in honour of the ancient Queen Cartimandua. Our tasting rooms, inspired by Roman architecture, offer a unique wine experience with stunning views of the vineyard. Join us for tours, tastings, and events at one of the most northerly vineyards in the UK, discover the magic of Dunesforde Vineyard

The palate is a delightful balance of freshness and bright fruit, with luscious notes of strawberries and raspberries complemented by a soft, creamy texture, a result of partial malolactic fermentation. This harmonious interplay concludes with a beautifully long, refined finish.
Aged for a minimum of 22 months on lees and rested an additional six months on cork post-disgorgement, this sparkling rosé demonstrates exceptional maturity and finesse.
Wild Rose shines alongside sashimi and maki rolls, enhanced by the salty tang of soy sauce and the zing of fresh ginger. It also pairs effortlessly with charcuterie boards and cheese platters. This is the eighth release of our best and most acclaimed sparkling rosé wine. Made with 100% Pinot Noir grapes which were lovingly hand picked from our Monkshatch plot at the end of the first week of October 2019.
Two thirds of the grapes were crushed and destemmed and soaked for two hours prior to pressing to obtain the lovely light ‘salmon pink’ colour before fermentation in stainless steel tanks.
One third of the grapes were whole bunch pressed with the base wine (using only the Cuvée) fermented and aged in used oak barrels. Both batches went through malolactic fermentation.

A delightfully delicate nose of wild strawberry, shortbread, citrus zest and faint red berries. Copper pink and pale in appearance, our Sparkling Rosé balances generous texture with a fine mousse. Embracing purity and precision, this debut rosé is a detailed, small-batch, low-intervention wine.
Our winemaking embraces purity, texture and balance. A detailed, small-batch, low-intervention approach allows the fruit to shine through.
"Made at contract winery Itasca by Ben Smith, who was responsible for making my highest scoring English wine of all time (2018 Oxney Chardonnay), I have no problem declaring that this is the UK’s finest Pinot Blanc to date.
The fruit comes from the Missing Gate Vineyard in Essex, where it was hand-picked and whole bunch pressed into third fill Burgundy barrels. I was lucky enough to taste a bottle late last year, and it is as lively and energetic as any white wine you will taste.
A low sulphur regime and minimal fining have left the beautiful fruit to romance your senses. This is a truly brilliant wine with sensational depth, complexity and length. It is not slippery and smooth like an Alsatian PB, but grainy, combative and textural like an epic Chablis. It is nothing short of stunning, and it is certainly the epitome of brave winemaking."
