About Crouch Ridge Estate
Crouch Ridge Estate is a family-run vineyard in Althorne, Essex, overlooking the River Crouch. Ross and Samantha, 5th-generation farmers, planted the vineyard in 2010 with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Gris grapes. Their passion is to produce fine wines that bring people together.
The 15-acre vineyard benefits from a unique microclimate, with warm summers, cold winters, and a moderating influence from the River Crouch. The vines are planted on south-facing slopes with clay soil, ideal for retaining heat.
Crouch Ridge Vineyard produces high-quality Sparkling wines using traditional methods, as well as still wines. Visitors can sample wines and enjoy the views from the Wine Barn, which opened in 2019. The on-site café serves food and drinks, including daily specials prepared by the chef to complement the wines.
