About Fitz Wine
In 2016, Fitz was born out of a long-held dream to create wine, inspired by the success of the English wine industry. Observing the dominance of Champagne-style sparkling wines, Fitz identified an opportunity to offer something distinct.
Rather than replicating established methods, Fitz embraced innovation. By experimenting with diverse grape varieties and using the Charmat method for secondary fermentation, they developed wines that are fresh, fruit-forward, and approachable. Their goal was to craft a sparkling wine for those seeking an alternative to the traditional, dry Champagne profile.
Fitz established a state-of-the-art winery in West Sussex and assembled a team of skilled professionals to bring their vision to life. Despite some scepticism within the industry, Fitz remained steadfast in its mission to diversify the English wine offering.
The name Fitz reflects the brand’s unique journey. While their sparkling wine is made in England from English grapes, it does not qualify under PDO regulations as "English Sparkling Wine" due to its production method. Drawing inspiration from the Anglo-Norman term meaning "son of the king"—often used for royal but illegitimate offspring—Fitz celebrates its quality heritage while acknowledging its outsider status.
Fitz represents a playful yet serious commitment to exceptional winemaking. By defying tradition, Fitz has created a sparkling wine that is inclusive, joyful, and true to its origins. The brand encourages wine lovers to embrace individuality, celebrate diversity, and enjoy life—one glass at a time.
