About Goodworth Clatford Vineyard
The story of Goodworth Sparkling begins with Mark and Cecilia Haszlakiewicz, who have lived in the historic village of Goodworth Clatford for over two decades. In 2015, with their children grown and inspired by the surrounding Hampshire vineyards, they decided to transform their old paddock into a vineyard focused on quality over quantity.
By 2016, after soil testing and careful preparation, they planted their first acre of vines on south-facing slopes with ideal chalky soil. Over the next few years, they nurtured the young vineyard, dedicating themselves to weeding, spraying, and trimming. In 2018, their efforts bore fruit with the first harvest, where friends and neighbours joined to pick three grape varietals. Partnering with Halfpenny Green Wine Estate, they produced their first vintage.
The vineyard saw a bumper harvest in 2019, yielding five tonnes of high-quality grapes and the exciting first taste of their 2018 vintage. Despite setbacks like the devastating 2020 frost, Mark and Cecilia persisted, continuing the hard work of vineyard care.
In 2021, the much-anticipated Goodworth 2018 was launched on Cecilia’s 70th birthday, to widespread acclaim. By 2022, their sparkling wine had won bronze, silver, and gold medals in prestigious competitions, cementing its reputation for excellence. With ripe 2022 grapes promising future delights and the release of their first rosé blend alongside a limited 2019 Classic Blend, Goodworth Sparkling continues to flourish—a testament to passion, perseverance, and the love of fine English wine.
