About Hambledon Vineyard

Established in 1952 by Major-General Sir Guy Salisbury-Jones, Hambledon Vineyard boasts a rich heritage as England’s oldest commercial vineyard. Nestled in the picturesque Hampshire countryside, known as the ‘Cradle of Cricket,’ it stands as a pioneer of English winemaking innovation.

The vineyard's success is deeply rooted in its geology. The vines flourish on chalky soils formed over 65 million years ago in the Paris Basin seabed, a terroir strikingly similar to the Champagne region. This unique foundation provides the perfect conditions for producing exceptional sparkling wines.

At Hambledon, we believe that crafting fine sparkling wines requires two essential elements: the finest raw materials and the expertise of world-class winemakers. Our commitment to excellence begins with meticulous care for the vineyard and extends to every stage of the winemaking process, ensuring each bottle reflects the character and quality of our remarkable heritage. Discover more about England's oldest vineyard and the secrets behind its extraordinary sparkling wines.
