About Kerry Vale Vineyard
Kerry Vale Vineyard is a family-run business owned by Russell and Jan Cooke. In February 2020, they acquired the vineyard from the Ferguson family, who founded it a decade earlier. The site, once home to an old blacksmith’s house called Brompton View and farm buildings, was transformed after consultations revealed ideal conditions for viticulture. In March 2010, 6,000 vines were planted, and Kerry Vale Vineyard was born.
The vineyard, now home to 6,500 vines, features four grape varieties—Rondo, Pinot Noir, Phoenix, and Solaris—perfectly suited for the English climate. Spanning 62 rows over 13 kilometres, the vineyard uses over 100,000 metres of wire and 1,200 posts to support its vines, which are pruned using the French Double Guyot system.
Kerry Vale’s location is of great archaeological interest, sitting on the edge of a Roman fort and vicus, with evidence of Bronze Age monuments, a druid road, and a medieval settlement. Excavations have uncovered Roman pottery, metalwork, and silver-extracting debris.
We invite visitors to explore our tranquil vineyard and enjoy the stunning countryside. For a unique gift, consider our Adopt a Vine package. We're confident you'll fall in love with Kerry Vale, just as we have.
