About Meophams Winery
Meopham Valley Vineyard, established in 1991 by David and Pauline Grey, laid its foundations by planting seven grape varieties, hosting vineyard tours, and producing award-winning still and sparkling wines. Under their stewardship, the vineyard gained recognition in local, national, and international wine competitions. In 2015, following David’s retirement, the Bassi family—Ben, Surjit, and Surinder—proudly took ownership. With 50 years of agricultural experience and close ties to the vineyard, they embraced the opportunity to fulfil their dream of cultivating quality produce on their own land.
Situated in the North Downs of Kent, the vineyard spans 25 acres on a picturesque east-facing slope. Its elevation, gradient, and well-drained soil create ideal conditions for viticulture. Meopham Valley Vineyard grows ten grape varieties, including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Bacchus, and Pinot Gris, which thrive in this terroir. The vineyard’s location near major transport links makes it accessible to visitors exploring Kent’s scenic beauty.
Rebranded as “Meophams,” the vineyard’s identity celebrates its heritage and connection to the local community, symbolised by the iconic Meopham Windmill in its logo. The vineyard has already earned accolades, including awards from the UKVA and Independent English Wine Awards, for its exceptional wines.
Meophams aspires to build on its success by expanding cultivation, introducing new grape varieties, and creating more award-winning wines. With a strong ethos of family, community, and innovation, the vineyard aims to become a key contributor to Kent’s rural economy while offering visitors a memorable experience of its scenic charm and exquisite wines.
