Nutbourne Hedgerow 2018 (6 Bottles) Pulborough, West Sussex, England

UK MAINLAND SHIPPING INCLUDED

As the name suggests, this is a wine that captures the essence of the Sussex landscape.

It is off-dry, made from a blend of our Riesling-style German varietals, including fruit from our forty-year-old vines.

A blend of Shönburger, Bacchus and Huxelrebe creates a beautifully rounded wine with a big wildflower bouquet and an abundance of hedgerow fruits.

Hedgerow is not as sweet as a dessert wine but has richness and character to cope with big flavoured foods. Pairs well with strong blue cheeses, chicken liver paté, game terrines and orchard fruit desserts.

The art: Just as Nutbourne wines are only made from grapes grown on the estate, every bottle features Bridget Gladwin’s paintings. Our vineyards are protected by the South Downs and from the ridge of the Downs there are wonderful views like this patchwork of colours, angles and textures.

About Nutbourne Vineyards

Nutbourne Vineyard is a family-run boutique estate in West Sussex, renowned for producing award-winning still and sparkling wines. Every step of the winemaking process, from grape to glass, takes place on-site, ensuring exceptional quality and authenticity. Owned by the Gladwin family since 1991, Nutbourne has become one of the finest boutique wine producers in the South East, offering wines that rival the best globally.

Nestled in a unique "terroir," the estate benefits from a warm microclimate shielded by the South Downs, south-facing slopes, and fertile greensand soil, akin to the Champagne region in France. With 26 acres under vine and innovative trellising systems—Guyot, Scott Henry, and Geneva Double Curtain—the vineyard is meticulously tended year-round. Nutbourne grows eight grape varieties, including Bacchus, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Meunier, used for single varietals and sparkling blends.

The estate features a wine cave, barrel room, and modern winery where all wines are exclusively made. Led by Gregory Gladwin, with guidance from his father Peter and consultant winemaker Emma Rice, Nutbourne produces approximately 50,000 bottles annually, varying by vintage.

Visitors can enjoy guided tours, tastings, and scenic vineyard trails, complete with wildflower meadows, alpacas, and stunning views. Nutbourne wines are available online, at the cellar door, and through independent merchants nationwide. Sustainability is central to operations, with practises promoting biodiversity and reducing environmental impact. Beyond wine, the Gladwin family offers farm produce and serves their wines in their London “Local & Wild” restaurants. Nutbourne welcomes guests to discover the charm of English winemaking.
