About Stopham Vineyard
At Stopham Vineyard, we specialise in crafting exceptional still wines from Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Auxerrois, and Bacchus grapes. Our vineyard, nestled in West Sussex's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, boasts free-draining sandy soil ideal for vine growth.
To overcome the challenges of this soil, we've implemented sustainable practices. We enrich the soil with organic matter from the Stopham cattle and add fertilisers as needed. Our vines are planted using precision laser-guided technology, ensuring optimal spacing and sun exposure.
Weather is a significant challenge in English winemaking. We've learned to adapt to the unpredictable climate, using cutting-edge technology to monitor and control fermentation rates. Our winemaking process involves de-stemming, crushing, and macerating grapes before pressing and fermentation in stainless steel tanks.
Sustainability is at the heart of our approach. We've developed a comprehensive strategy with Inside Out Responsibility to minimise our environmental footprint. From bottling under inert gas to scientifically analysing our wines, we're committed to protecting the natural beauty of the South Downs National Park.
