About Toppesfield Vineyard
Welcome to Toppesfield Vineyard, a boutique vineyard run by Jane and Peter Moore. We combine our passion for English wine with our love of the outdoors to produce fine wines. Our story began in 2011 when we purchased agricultural land next to our home. Inspired by the area's Roman history – vines were planted here in Roman Times – we created a 21st-century vineyard in the rolling hills around Toppesfield.
Our terroir benefits from a fertile chalk subsoil, clay loam, and ideal air circulation. East Anglia's dry and sunny climate creates perfect conditions for our chosen grape varieties.
We selected Bacchus as our main white grape, which thrives in East Anglia's climate. Its hints of gooseberry and elderflower evoke English hedgerows in early summer. For our rosé, we chose Pinot Noir Précoce, an early-ripening red grape that excels in our climate.
