Sparkling Demi Sec

Sparkling Demi-Sec is a style of sparkling wine that offers a sweeter, more indulgent character than Brut or Extra Dry. The term “Demi-Sec” means “half-dry” in French, though in practice it’s medium-sweet, with around 32–50 grams of residual sugar per litre. This makes it rounder, softer, and more dessert-friendly than drier sparkling wines.

In the glass, Sparkling Demi-Sec retains all the hallmarks of quality fizz—fine bubbles, lively acidity, and freshness—but balances them with a touch of sweetness. Expect flavours of ripe peach, pear, honeyed citrus, and tropical fruits, sometimes layered with brioche, vanilla, or floral notes depending on the blend and ageing.

For UK drinkers, Demi-Sec is an excellent choice for those who prefer a slightly sweeter sparkling wine or want a versatile pairing option. It matches beautifully with fruit tarts, cheesecake, foie gras, blue cheese, or spicy Asian dishes, as well as being a celebratory treat on its own.
